I haven’t posted in forever. I’m sorry. Life is a little hectic right now. I got a job (yay!), part time (boo), but it least it’s something. We have had some visitors and we moved. I have lots of life updates and random pictures to post but in the meantime here is a pic of Jake and I and a bunch of our friends here in Austin (and Elisa from home!) on a party bus/float trip. Can you believe that a year ago I almost thought about moving back? Not only do we have friends- we have genuine friends. People I really like. A lot. But it goes without saying that I still really miss everyone in London, Pittsburgh, Maryland and DC! Come visit us in the new casa.

PREVIEW:
Having Jake’s mom here the past five days to play photographer was great. I always forget to take pictures of mundane things like taking the dog to the park. Then I see a picture like this and am reminded of how fabulous Austin is, and how pretty she* looks in pics. I’m very lucky to love where I live, but then again… I fall in love with cities easily…
*(Don’t you think Austin would be a female?)
Wurstfest ‘09
We trekked to New Braunfels Friday night for the festival celebrating sausage, beer, and all things German. No lederhosen for us but we did enjoy the Texas/German food and beer!
A few shots from our first Halloween in ATX. We had a lot of fun with our friends- Tiger Woods, Batman, Ninja Turtle, Day man (from It’s Always Sunny), and Zach Morris. We were sailors of course in our first attempt at a couple costume. Not very original I know, but oh well. Austin was crazy crowded downtown and getting a cab was a ridiculous task, but good night overall!
Things That Are Happening In My Life Right Now…

- Tomorrow I HAVE to get my Texas license plates. I am way past 30 days of living here and sick of thinking about it. Then I will have to get my Texas license, but I’m not worrying about that till next week.
- Jake and I are coming to the East Coast VERY early Sat. morning- as in the Super Shuttle gets here at 4:30AM.
- There is a hurricane about to hit the East Coast.. We will most likely not get to Baltimore on time with my luck. I really hope we don’t get stuck in Houston, our layover city
- Sat. night is my college roommate Danielle’s bachelorette party in Atlantic City. I am super excited because I have never been and can’t wait to see you girls, but super worried because A HURRICANE is coming.
- Easton is going to a kennel for the week, for the first time. I am very nervous he will be upset, but I am more nervous that he will be a pain for the people who work there.
- I am going to be in MD/DC on Sun., Mon., Tues. of next week! If you are in town, let’s meet up! (Sun. will prob be a Carroll County day)
- I am going to be in Pittsburgh on Wed., Thurs., Fri. of next week! (MY BIRTHDAY is Thursday) If you are in the ‘Burgh we are going out Thurs. night prob in the Southside.. join us!
- I am going to be in Deep Creek on Fri., Sat., Sun., Mon. If you want to join the fam for labor day weekend, let me know
- Lastly, this has been a rough couple of days for me because my beloved family dog, Mac is not well. He has arthritis and can’t walk up and down steps very well any more and the other night he fell down a flight of steps in my parents house. Since then he has not been able to even stand up on his back legs, let alone walk. There is a chance that his spinal cord is swollen and could go down in a few days. But, if it doesn’t… I can’t even think about it. He is 14 years old and has been a part of our family since I was in 4th grade. We grew up with him and none of us are ready to let him go. This may seem silly to people who are not pet owners, but I honestly feel more upset about this than anything I ever have in my whole life, and my puffy eyes are evidence. The worst part is that I will actually be in Pittsburgh on Wed. afternoon. I am just praying that I will be able to see him again.
So that’s my life right now. Oh yeah, and I started my new internship last week. Did I tell you about it? I only work there 20 hours a week, but hopefully they will hire me full time after this 6 week trial period. I am working for a digital marketing firm in downtown Austin as a copywriter, which I really like so far. I am mostly dealing with the social networking stuff for one of their big clients, which I love. Jake is good and in love with his truck, trying to drive it everywhere. I will hopefully post pics of that soon.
Okay, hope that’s enough of an update for everyone wondering where I’ve been. Can’t wait to see all you Pittsburgh and Marylanders in the next few days. Hopefully we make it there safe!
