So my family came to Austin for my first attempt at a Thanksgiving dinner.. and it was a major success. I had so much fun with my family, I forgot how good it is to be together (for limited amounts of time of course.) We gave them the Austin tour and tried to do a few touristy things in the limited time we had over the long weekend. Thursday, however, was all about the food. We cooked way more food than necessary and Jake and I will be eating leftovers this entire week, as well as feeding our friends.
We somehow made it work in our little apartment kitchen, which is actually pretty big as far as apartments go….
(warning: lots of pics below)

Yes, my mom and I made all of the desserts. Including little pumpkin cups with the left over dough and pumpkin. DELISH. Easton of course wanted in on the action…

Sadly Jake and I did not own real glasses before this. We drank exclusively out of plastic cups we have collected from various places and events, and some heavy pint glasses. But, a few weeks ago I found these beautiful orangey glass tumblers on sale at Pier 1- score!

After our awesome meal, the boys were put to work and did a surprisingly good job. (To give credit where credit is due, my dad and Jake did help with some of the actual cooking as well. )

We ended the night playing many rounds of Catch Phrase, cards, and video games.

(Apparently the lights were too bright for some people.)
(Here comes the sappy part)
Family, I am so blessed and lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for coming to Austin to see my new life and making it such a great weekend. I miss you already and can’t wait for Christmas at home. I love you!
And now I am going to maybe ruin my mom’s Christmas cards by posting a photo she may use- if you read this blog and also receive my mother’s Christmas cards, please act like you never saw this.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Pittsburgh Meyers Family!
