Stranger in a Strange Land

This is already my favorite song off of “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,” but with 80s movies!?… couldn’t be better.

Life Update. [this will be tl;dr if you aren’t related to me]

So, some things have been happening around here. I am still not working full-time, which is a bummer, but I’ve grown to love Austin so much recently that I am not at all miserable the way I was in the Fall. I’ve got actual friends outside of Jake and activities and such (that sounds so lame, but it makes me feel better). A few weeks ago we went to NYC for the Big East tournament (my fam are Pitt fans) and had an awesome time with Elisa and my family, but it poured the entire weekend. The following week was SXSW here in Austin, and while I didn’t get to attend any interactive events, on Fri. Jena and I went to a bunch of free shows.

[If you’ve never heard of SXSW, it’s basically a three-fold event for internet stuff, movies, and music. The music portion means that EVERY venue in Austin has some sort of live music act, even if it’s not an official SX event. So, basically 6th street and a few other areas shut down and you can walk around and listen to free music and get free drinks and food at places. Next year I will plan for this better, but it was fun to just wander and see what we could get into.]

Jake is preparing to take the FE [fundamentals of engineering] exam to someday become a certified professional engineer, so we are sticking close to home for Easter weekend. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get out and explore some other Texas areas after his exam is over and before it gets too hot down here.

Oh, and we’re moving in a few months, so we’re in the process of trying to find our next apartment. Hopefully, we can find someplace similar to our apartment now, but closer to the city and dog parks. I love the area we live in, but it’s kind of far from all of our friends and a pain to figure out what we’re doing when we go out to the bars [$30 cab ride home].

I think that’s it for now, but I’ll post more once we find our new digs. Happy Spring!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
This is one of our favorite holidays around here… as evidenced by Easton’s stylish attire. While I am kind of sad that I am not across the pond in the UK with my Irish friends (or in Ireland itself for that matter), we will be celebrating with a festival downtown this evening. Harp, Smithwick’s, Guinness, Bulmer’s.. Here I come!

This is amazing. I love me some awards shows but this is pretty accurate…

This Is Accurate, You Should Watch It of the Day: Short blurb describing the video above as being a rather observant parody trailer in which actors self-referentially reenact many clichés often utilized by academy award-baiting films.

So I wanted to post some pics in honor of the Terps big comeback and win against Clemson last night, but I just looked through all of my photo library and I have ZERO pics of me at a Maryland basketball game. Football games and tailgates? Plenty. College friends, do any of you have pictures of me at a basketball game? I would like to have at least one so I can tell my kids I trekked in the freezing cold to Comcast Center, and reveled in the wall of students in one of the nation’s best basketball arenas, and rioted (okay more like innocently watched as others went crazy) on Rt. 1 when we beat Duke.

Anyway, a little while ago Jake and I went to Longhorns game and these are a few pics from that instead. And while I will always be a Terps fan at heart, I have to admit.. the burnt orange is growing on me.

Just tried Chatroulette…

So weird. and scary. and I think I liked it. Ha!

There’s a 30% chance it’s already raining.

New T. Swizzle. Yes, she’s bubblegum sweet but I love her still.

(Taylor Swift- Today was a Fairytale) Thanks Jena!
