Adorbs
So I forgot to post pics from my long weekend trip to St. Petersburg with a bunch of extended family that happened 2 weeks ago. Today I went and looked on my camera for the pics… I have 0. Instead all you get are these two blurry shots from my iPhone. But how cute is my cousin’s baby? I could just eat those chubby cheeks. Anyway, any family members reading this- please send me some pictures from the weekend. I know there were some good ones!

Looks like I got my wish of Miike Snow playing ACL so I wouldnt feel bad about only getting to see LCD Soundsystem in June. Bonus- LCD are playing at ACL too! But to be honest I’m probably most excited about The Eagles headlining. Does that make me a 50 year old white dude? Oh well. I grew up listening to them and my dad has always played their music on his guitar. I think I knew every word to Hotel California when I was like 7. So there are a bunch of acts I have never heard of, but there are a bunch that I’m genuinely excited about. And that’s sort of the point of ACL anyway, right? To find new music that you normally wouldn’t listen to. I’m pumped despite seeing a lot of people upset about the lineup. Can’t wait for October!

Eli Young Band
Yesterday we went to the Lone Star Jam concert in Waterloo Park and had an awesome time. There were about 7 different country bands and Eli Young Band closed out the night with an amazing performance. Even though I did get a little sunburned, the weather was perfect. It was a great day/night and I think we’ll definitely go again next year.

LCD Soundsystem- All My Friends
I bought tickets today for LCD Soundsystem, the Lone Star Jam festival this Sat (Eli Young Band, Jack Ingram, Honeybrowne, etc.), Greg Laswell, and ACL (lineup not announced until May). What that says about my ADD taste in music- I’m not sure, but I am kinda sad I couldn’t also buy tickets to Miike Snow. They are playing the same night as LCD Soundsystem but with a more expensive price. Any hope that maybe they’ll be at ACL?

Signs
When I was growing up we used to take biannual trips to St. Louis to see my grandparents. One of the things I remember very vividly about their two-story colonial is the smell of the honeysuckle bushes along their sidewalk. My mom taught me to break them open and lick the inside to taste the sweet honey nectar. It is such a distinctive smell that I don’t think I smelled honeysuckle again until I moved to Austin. In the summer there are honeysuckle bushes that line the hill up to our apartment complex and on my walks with Easton the smell would hit me and instantly take me back. Crazy how strong smell is tied to memories. Anyway, the point of all of this was that since this summer I’ve wanted to reproduce that smell with some honeysuckle candles and haven’t found any I love. Today I got this email from Pier one to let me know they are on sale, and yesterday I got $40 in rewards to spend at Pier one. IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS PEOPLE.
Anyone else love honeysuckle this much?
![Umm I don’t know what Jorge is trying to pull here, but I definitely thought of this first. Ask anyone, I always eat my cupcakes like this! It’s so much better then getting a bite of all icing, or worse- all cake. Try it next time, you’ll thank me (or Jorge).
